Still getting KR...

2000GTP243

How's it going,. Car is a 2000 GTP sedan with 150k. Mods are hot air intake, headers with catless down pipe. 180tstat, trans go shift kit and 3.5 mps and zzp canned tune. Autolite 104s. I'm scanning on an areoforce.
At cruising speed and part throttle no KR but at work I'm seeing 3.5 to 6ish.
I know a canned tune isn't the best way to go but in my area there isn't any good tunners that I know of and can't afford hp tuners at the moment.
I just ordered a 3.6 pulley but also have a set of autolite 103s. Might try those until the 3.6 comes in.

throw a wideband in to scan what your AFR is and see what it looks like regarding the zzp canned tune. that or the timing is too high. are the AL104s gapped at around 0.050-0.055? whats your elevation in NM?

I wouldn't bother with the 103's, they are only necessary for builds with like 15 lbs of boost.

Boost has nothing to do with it; it is just the setup in general.

I ran 103's in everything. I don't care. Old motor; old tech. It works.

However; canned tunes are USUALLY the issue. I'd check contact with the body, etc on your headers. I'd also put new mounts in it to eliminate any false KR possibilities. The 3.5" shouldn't be an issue though...then again every car is different and with them getting older and older the carbon build up is doing nothing but adding compression lol

try the 104's at 0.50, where i run mine. you can try 48, 52 as well. sometimes you can feel a difference one way or another.

Your plugs are fine. They aren't going to make a significant difference either way.

Your problem is the tune and too small of pulley for your mods. Most of the canned tunes advance timing too much. Plus, the mods you have aren't really affecting anything.

Elevation is roughly 3600ft and gapped at
.055

I have the 104s gapped at 55,. My dog bones bushings are shot so I ordered a set of bushing too.

Dog bones won't matter that much.

Now if your lower mounts are shot along with the DB's there is always the possibility of false KR.

HOWEVER; still is probably the garbage tune.

if you know how the zzp tune is setup and if the IAT is setup to add/subtract timing could put the correct diode resistor in the IAT connector to pull timing and scan again.

Well, I swapped up to a 3.6 pulley and it seemed to help getting zero to .7 to the occasion 1.2 KR @ wot and zero at partial throttle. Car feels like it pulls harder than it did with the 3.5 pulley but today I installed my wideband and went wot @ 60 to test it out and saw about 1.3 KR then around 80 a spike of 6 KR. My afr was 11.3 to 11.5.
Gonna pull the plugs and try a smaller gap to see if that helps. Pretty sure it's a timing isse with the zzp tune :/

Or just put the stock pulley back on.

That's always an option ya know...

Because a 3.5" on a GenV is like a 3.3" on a GenIII.

Not to mention the much more aggressive OEM timing curve. I'd just have it tuned with a 3.8" and be done.
