stickey gas pedal

hello everybody, i just bought a 99 GT and the gas pedal seems to be rather stiff to push down but it returns freely are there any remidies short of replacing the whole throttle line ??? any advice would be great!

Could be the throttle cable, could be the spring, could be a dirty throttle body (carbon buildup) and the plate is sticking.

My 97 GT does the same, but doesn't seem to have any ill affects on it. Like it was said above, probably just needs a good cleaning.

Clean out that throttle body. A little wd-40 behind the pedal may help (if thats whats causing it)

Look around and see if you can lube a few places up. Make sure you use very little and do not make a mess. Use common sense too!

clean around the TB where the butterfly closes. this did it on my GTP.... worked like a charm. WD-40 the cable.
