Stereo and reverse lights

I have a 1992 Grand Prix SE and I've been having problems with the radio/stereo however you guys wanna call it, it will work fine for a few minutes but then the display will go black and i lose control over it, i can't change the station or lower the volume.. nothing. Maybe i need a new one?
The second thing; the reverse lights won't turn on. I checked them myself and they don't look damaged and no fuses are damaged either. i put the car on reverse and they don't light up.

Sounds like you need a new radio.. As for the back up lights..
Id start bt checking the connection to the trans.. There is going to be some sorta wiring to the transmission.. If Im not mistaken..
