Steering wheel swap 97 to 2001

I wanted to know is it possible to swap a 2001 wheel into a 97 grand prix? If so would It be bolt in? Any insight would help being as I want to swap the 2 I prefer the 2001 style better

Air bag would be the biggest question. If they changed the systems and if it's compatible.

the plugs on the clock spring maybe different. so you may need to swap to that newer year clock spring, then cut the cars factory plug off and solder the new matching year on there.

Programming the BCM?

There's no sense spending money on a project like this if there's a hurdle you can't surmount. Metra's solutions may be more satisfying.
