Hey everyone how is it going. I am new to the site and getting use to it. I am wanting to start doing a few mods to my car to get a little more horse power. I have a 04 GP GT with the 3.8. What would yall suggest to were I could start. I was wanting to start off with a cold air intake and the only one I found is from K&N. I just need to get pointed in the right direction.

I would recommend doing mods that are also compatible with an M90/turbo setup. You will eventually want to go boosted, and you don't want to waste money on mods that won't work in the future.

That being said, intake, downpipe, headers, rockers, TB, etc. would all be good mods. A dremel is also a good idea if you don't already have one. A tuner is a very good investment if you plan to keep the car for a while, and also plan to mod it beyond a basic setup.

Did you use the hose the was connected to the air box or did you put in some other stuff with it?
 
If you don't plan on going turbo then my suggestion would be WizAired or build a FWI on you own. I believe there is a writeup in the how to section; if not there are tons elsewhere that you can find.

I have seen a few bolt on an air filter directly to the throttle body but you run into issues with heat soak and taking in hot air from things like the cross over exhaust pipe. You can do things to minimize that. A lot of the short intakes Ive seen use some short PVC piping to route the air filter over to just behind the headlight which helps with the heat some.

I dont think the OEM hose would be long enough to do much past connecting to the pricey aftermarket intake systems.
