• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Starter Solonoid issues.

Let me run you through the short version of this. It's simple. Turn the car off. Momentarily the car will turn over, obviously with the key off it won't start, but it tries like hell to. This occured twice to me since I've taken possesion of the car, and I know for a fact at minimun once to the previous owner if not more. After the first starter they have been under warrenty, but what is causing it? For a long time I wanted to say it was the ignition switch but that ruled itself out today. Do these starter solonoids have a temp issue or possibly a shorting issue? this is just simply weird and it's driving me bonkers! I'm to the point of running a start switch myself to completely rule out the car doing it and blame it 100% on the starter which is honestly where I believe this issue lies anyways. but the damn starter isn't 6 months old. And the one before this wasn't 3 months old. However they were both NAPA's :-/:confused:

That's a new one on me. I'm pretty sure there is a starter relay in the fuse area under the hood. That might be worth looking at. In my wife's GT, there is another relay just like it you can swap around.

I wouldn't rule out the ignition switch. We've had three GTPs and one GT in the family and have replaced the ignition switch 6 times in them for various weird issues from trip computer issues to actual delayed starting. (holding the key on for a second before anything happens).

Good luck.

I will look at the switch harder then, I'm thinking about undoing the signal wire and see if he keeps it up, quick to check. And I will look at the relays too, I don't hear any clicking from relays, but I'm half deaf :th_drooling: .

everything I can tell is it's a stiaght shot from the ignition switch to the starter, but without seeing an actual diagram I couldn't tell you. The signal wire removed form the starter resolved the issue for now. And I will look for an ignition switch or steering column ew...
