standard vs bose head units

I just purchased a 2001 Grand Prix GTP to flip. The prior owner thought he had thrown a rod, but turned out to be a collapsed lifter that I managed to get pumped up again. The car is very clean and straight with only 105K miles on it.. I am going about fixing all of the little problems I am finding in order to sell the car on. The radio ( Bose system ) only has the right channel, front and rear. I can hear the bass out of the rear left speaker but very faintly. I just changed out the Bose amp with no change so I am assuming it is the head unit that went bad. The head unit looks like any of the other head units I can find on E bay. Are they the same? Do I need to find a head unit from a Bose system car? I just want everything to work as intended. I want to retain the steering wheel controls and don't feel like messing with aftermarket stuff. The key word here is fix it CHEAP!
Thanks for any and all input.

If u find another Bose head unit that uses the same type of plug in or wire harness in the back of radio u can just swap em out easily. If its a different brand u would need to switch the wire harness behind dash to fit different brand radio. Its not hard to switch
