Stage 6

what do you guys think about the Stage 6 from 3800performance.com? I want to skip all BS and go big with this one. it says only 04 GTP but my 06GT has same engine and i'm guessing it will still work...

Would I need any mods to support this stage 6? I'd prefer to purchase this stage since it has everthing I already want and is only about 2,500 bucks

heres the link:

3800SC Stage 6 Performance Package: 3800 Performance

Honestly there are much better ways to go about spending $2,500 if you have it rather than buying this kit for no more performance gains that it promises.

First off, what are you looking to do with this car? Just wanting some extra 'pep' for your daily driver or are you going to want and try and put some serious power down?

rite now it is my daily driver til i get my truck back up but I'd like to put some serious power down. I'm talking when at the strip, one punch and my leather is already soaked with rubber smell...my sonoma only needs a clutch FTW

I'd get the truck running before I would dump any money into that car. make sure the other one is reliable....so when you do upgrades, you are not stranded without a vehicle.

jmo..... finish one project at a time.....

Without a doubt, make sure you have something else to drive if you want to make any kind of power with your GP. You will break something at some point in time, not maybe, or possibly. Without a doubt your GP is going to break down on you once your modded.

you might need a built tranny with that power too. and i agree there is much better ways to go about it. cam and valve train componets from zzperformance are about 700$ and that is the xp cam that makes the most hp on stock heads. headers 350-600. you already have an intake. pulley 60-80 bucks i think. some colder plugs 40$. tune. 200 bucks depending on where you get it. i would get it dyno tuned or from overkill. he works with zzperformance and could tune it pretty good for the cam. i dont really trust the off the shelf tunes they give you.

you might need some injectors to depending on how low of a pulley you go with. most likely you will. the best tune would be to get an hpt and do the tunning you self. if your going to invest that much money into it mine as well take the time to learn how to tune your car so everything runs as good as it can. you also might need to upgrade your MAF.

I talked to a couple people on here about that stage 6 kit. I was thinking about getting it and was told it wasn't worth it. Some parts in it aren't really good and some you won't need.

In the stage 5 package they are giving you 1.8 rockers, and the stage 6 says it includes the stage 5, but now has a cam? Seems like a lot of money for a setup with no injectors or intercooler. I highly doubt you would run as fast as they are saying. Look at some times and mods on the forum.

For the same money, you could go with intercooler, 2.8-3.0 pulley, injectors, headers, and tune. That would put you in the low 13's for sure on the street. A mild turbo setup could also be purchased for that amount.
