Spoiler help

OK..so i picked up a spoiler from this guy yesterday for a decent price,to put on my spoilerless SE.

Im scared to drill into my trunk!! Does anyone have measurments or a good way to attach it in its correct place,or maybe even a template i could make?!? :th_scratchhead:any suggestions would be very helpful !

the holes are going to be through holes, so being exact isnt as important as if they were threaded. measure twice, cut once.

i would take off the trunk lid and tape off the whole thing with painters tape. lay the wing on it where you want it and trace it.

the hard part is going to be figuring out a way to mark the holes. im not sure what to tell you about that. maybe shove a marker in the bolt hole? i dunno.

Measure twice, drill one. But if you suck at measuring....

this is a cheap trick that might help...

measure "loosely" where the spoiler holes should line up on the trunk lid and put down some painters tape (masking tape). On the bottom of the spoiler, around each hole of the spoiler get you some paint that does not dry fast, that would be easily visible on the tape, and paint a circle around each hole of the spoiler.

Then with a helper set the spoiler on the car and when you have it lined up, and measured from side to side and the contour shape on the bottom is correct, then press down, and then lift up. The circles from the bottom of the spoiler will now be on the tape.

Now all you have to do is center punch in the middle of the circle, and drill them out to the size of the studs of the spoiler.

When you attach the spoiler, I would add in some spacer under it, I have used everything from a small package of garden hose replacement washers/seals to some ticked out nylon spacers. I use clear silicone on both sides of the spacer and some on the spoiler to insure a good seal.
