Spirited Turns followed by Power Steering Whine/Groan

So I recently put in new kyb quick strut assemblies, lca's and front poly sway links and just had an alignment done. I wanted to feel out the car a bit so I wen to a big lot and did some really easy back to back turns. I was hearing a couple clicks under light turning and I kept turning back and forth while moving (maybe like 40 turns?) just to listen. After that I did about 6 hard corners at about 35 and came to a hard stop. When I took off I had a big whine/groan from what I assume was the power steering. I know these are a bit noisy to begin with but this was very noticeable. Turning didn't seem to make the groan but accelerating and revving the engine did.

I checked the fluid and it seems at an appropriate level. The sound was quieter this morning but it has me wondering if I damaged something with all that turning.

Any thoughts? Thanks for any input.

Check the level of your transmission fluid- fully hot, car idleing in park, level ground. Could be it whining from the hard cornering.

Not sure. It was a noticeable click noise when steering back and forth. It was at the same point of the steering wheel in both directions. I'm not sure what that would be...

I will certainly check the fluid. Why would the transmission whine like that? When I stopped really hard after cornering and went to accelerate, it did clunk pretty hard into gear and then the whining started. I don't know why, but I didn't think that was related. I would guess the fluid isn't low but could the transmission still whine like that from the driving conditions I put it through, even with the right amount of fluid? And why would it do it revving in neutral?

Sound was not noticeable this afternoon when I drove about 40 miles round trip. Is the power steering system self bleeding such that, if last night, I somehow got air in the system it would bleed itself over the next couple of drives?

New strut assemblies - no shortcuts. I'm going to check that all bolts I touched are tight. The only uncertain thing was how tight to get my moog poly sway bar links. I didn't want to crush the poly bushings so I only guessed at how tight they should be ... :th_scratchhead:
 
Well I am literally in the same boat as you... I assumed my strut mounts are bad which was causing strain on the power steering. Ill let you know if I find any answers.
 
My whine is gone, by the way. Not really sure if it was the transmission or the power steering but let's just say I'll be keeping the spirited driving for the gsxr and the track, lol.
