speedometer stopped working..

I have an 07 gp (base) and the other day driving down the highway goin about 70 and all of the sudden the needle on my speedometer dropped to zero all the other gauges were fine just the mph stopped working. i pulled over killed the engine and started it back up and it worked fine, it hasnt been a problem since just wondering what might have caused it to just stop working all of the sudden like that.
 


If it happens again, check your fuses first. Sometimes they'll crack if they don't get enough power to break. Then check your wiring connecters behind the speedometer unit itself and make sure the connection is secure and nothing is keeping from having a secure connection. After that you may want to make sure your grounds are clean and secure.
