speakers go poof!

Hello all, The factory delco system in my car blows speakers. When i bought the car 8 6 months ago the rear left and front right speakers were blown. I replace all 4 including the tweeters and about 2 weeks later the rear left let go again. Any ideas?
Also, where is the factory amp located. My car is a 99 Gt sedan.
 


You ONLY have an AMP if your car had the Bose Stereo Package installed. It is located in the trunk under the rear deck lid. This in this photo here...

If your car does not have this, you do not have an amplifier in your car. The HU contains any built in AMP then. So you dont have to worry about it.

how loud are you listening to your music?
You listen to a lot of music with constant heavy bass?
If so, you are sending a lot of distortion to the speakers which will almost any speaker.

OR you could have a bad feed to the speaker.
 
Thats all iWas looking for, whether or there was a seperate factory amplifier somewhere, and the question was answered with a no.

ive ben told that the premium 8 speaker setup (non bose) also have a factory amp cause it blew one of my kicker 6x9 and then later it went into protect mode. i still have to find some time to cut it out.
 
Hummmm I find that hard to believe. I never knew Pontiac put an amp with any other speaker/sound package in the 97-03 GPs. I would check personally in the area of the trunk I showed in my picture up top, to see if you truly have one. If there is NOT one there, then there is NO factory amp. IF there is one there, you can actually go onto the bracket that connects the rear of the HU, and there is a wire that powers the amp, you can simply cut that wire to disable the amp if you want.

I actually spliced mine when I installed my Pioneer HU so I could have the Bose amp power my Infinity Speakers. The only problem with the Bose amp, is that it is running on a 8ohm level as compared to a 4ohm or less level like most aftermarket speakers and amps run.

I am just curious who told you that the none bose package speakers have an amp. I know for certain my 98 GT with the premium sound (8 speaker) package did not come with any amp. It was all feed off the HU's built in AMP.
 
I wasn't told theres an amp, I just assumed that for the sound made through the 7 speakers that work there must be an amp. same symptoms of a 4 channel I had years ago. Thank you to all for your input and knowledge. Will from Overkill, If you read this, I'd really like to talk to yo about programing a PCM for me. I have questions!
 
i was told by a club gp member that there is one under the dash, and if not why would 2 of my connections go dead and not allow any feed to any speakers i hook up to them?
