spark plugs for turbo setup

Was curious as to what spark plugs you are using and what ones have you had problems with in the past with the turbo setup. I've been running Autolite racing 103's but i've had a couple of them go bad on me and didn't know if i should replace them with the same or maybe try some other brand like NGK.
 


Hey Kent, have you driven around yet with a new plug in #6?

Just curious if you had and pulled the new plug out to see if it looked like the old plug.

I think I would try some NGK plugs, I think they were TR71X's which would be close to the 103's but Iridium. Or the TR71 which would be the coppers and see if you still have the same problem.

I just bought some new plugs today. I called NGK directly and he recommended that i try the TR6. He said it's what is comparable to the ar103. He also mentioned something that i haven't thought of and that was that carbon build up might be the trouble if it's not a valve or a piece of the piston striking it. So i had a can of seafoam that i ran through it tonight with my current plugs and i'm putting in the ngk's tomorrow.
And it's possible that i might have found someone with a scope that could check it out for me. i've been digging around online so much to find someone and i came across a guy on the turbo buick forums that works at a machine shop up in bartlesville. He didn't have one himself but knows several professional racers in the area that probably would. He's going to call them and get back to me so i have my fingers crossed.
 
Not to hijack your thread Kent, but if you found someone in Bartlesville with a machine shop can you pass along their name or shop to me. If they or he is familiar with the 3800 I would love to chat with him or go visit them.

I got the NGK plugs installed and everything once again seems ok except for the annoying exhaust leak. Noticed that the engine seems to start easier but have yet to see how they perform under boost.
 


103's would be a bit cold...


when your not staying up in high RPM's, or racing all around town...they foul out VERY easily.

if you DD drive it.... 104's would work...but play around with the gap.

TR6's are a great plug. I have them in my truck, with spray, and will be installing mine in the GTP today.
 
when i talked to the rep from NGK he said the tr6 would be very slightly colder than the ar103. And after looking at the color on the plugs they seemed to be doing great. They were had just a little tan to them like they should.
