Sound of rushing Liquid - Behind the Dash?

Ok, I searched but can't find anyone with this interesting question: About 5 years ago, when I would accelerate, I would hear liquid (coolant?) running somewhere behind the mid to right side of the dash....no leaking tho. Sounds like a waterfall. Then it went away and I haven't had any issues. Just recently, it began again. Cold temps in the am and it seems to happen... but after a warm up, it seems less pronounced or non-existent. Does this have anything to do with a thermostat. Not having any overheating problems or anything. I love the sound of rivers....just not behind my dash ;)

As soon as I submitted this, I found another post that said that this is low coolant or air in the line? Is that it? I checked the overflow and it looked like it had the corrrect level.

hows your heat now that you hear it again? sucks?

if so, its air in the heater core. when the cars hot, touch both heater hoses off the alt bracket to the fire wall, both should be hot. if one is warm or both cold your core is air bound.

to fix this you take both hoses off the alt bracket, then put a garden hose to one hose then flush it till clear water comes out, you can flush the other hose too. leave as much water in the hoses as you can while putting them back on the alt bracket. your heat should kick ass again, and the sound gone.

dont know where you live, but if its cold you may want to drain some coolant and add some new to perk up the antifreeze. i used a plastic tube to siphon mine out a while back. nice and clean right into a old jug.
