any of you guys have experience with the sony explod CDX-GT930UI? I was lookin to buy this in the next couple of weeks and wanted to get some feedback if possible from trusted sources. I was looking at Sony because of this handy dandy steering wheel wiring kit thingy i got that works for them. Any info would be nice. Here's a linky to the site for it

CDX-GT930UI | Xplōd™ CD Receiver | Sony | Sony Style USA

oh and it comes in red, which matches the interior lighting quite nicely. THANKS!

yea for a receiver i dont like sony, i prefer alpine, i do have sony subs and like those, but for receivers IMO alpine is the best

hmmm is there an alpine steering wheel control wiring kit? If so, linky please? And what Alpine would you suggest? Anything 300 or less is in the clear for me :) I appreciate it!

Thanks Kieth! uhhmm, any advice on what Alpine? It seems the general consensus that they're the best. I want one that is red if possible XD I'mma do some lookin around too

Im not sure...I've been outta the business for a few years, so I dont know what models are out now.. But almost all HU's these days allow you to change the color of the display/buttons. Just go to a store and pick out one you like and is in your price range. I'd definitely stick with either alpine or pioneer. Although pioneers look goofy these days.

Yeah, that's how I picked out my HU. Checked out what was in my budget, then went from there.
And mines a Pioneer auib2ep3129edbshd or something crazy like that. Total customized color schemes too. Has something like 60,000 color combinations.

Doesnt look too goofy either, fairly plain, and sounds damn good. Love the built in features.

hahaha hmmmmmm otay, well what should I be looking for in a HU? 3-4 Pre-amp outputs is a major thing am I right? As well as the power output. Any suggestions for a minimum power output?? Thanks alot for your time guys!

It all depends what you wanna do bro. Are you gonna amp the mids and highs...are you gonna add a sub. Im pretty sure all HU's have at least 3 pre-outs these days. (sub, L and R) I wouldnt worry about what the HU says (50w x4) because they are rarely accurate and will prolly only net you 20 actual watts. And if you go with a 4 channel amp, your HU's "wattage" is obsolete. The only thing to look for is the pre-out voltage.

alrightyy, thanks mate. And honestly most of the ones I've seen unless you get really pricey have been 2 volt. Oh well, the search continues!

2v will be plenty, unless you're getting into competition. Like I said, just go look and listen. Play with the options, thats why they have 'em on display. :th_thumbsup-wink:

Yep. Fiddle around with them, and get one that you like...My last one was a flip down unit...and it was super ****ing complicated to work, but I didnt play with it any at the display...

So i mess with the one I got for about 10m...and really liked it.

And most do come with 3 outputs like stated above.

Alrightyy, I'll give you guys an update with pics after I get it and get it installed! I'm gettin a HU mount from map tech enterprises, I plan on getting the glowing red neon "GrandPrix" Should look quite nice

Good luck bro, the steering wheel interface can be a PITA the first time. It may take you a couple of tries, but as long as you read the directions carefully...you'll be ight.

why is alpine being pushed so hard? i always rocked a JVC because they made the most attractive, yet useable head units at the most fair price.

I like Kenwood as long as you find one with a good iPod interface. BS on you only being able to find 2V outputs, most of them are 2.7-4 volts, there's no reason you can't get a 4 volt. And whoever said the 3 types of outputs, it's front, rear, and sub, sometimes the rear and sub are on a switch with each other.

everyone i know runs a alpine HU, they look good and work well. I've had my CDA-9886 for almost 2 years , they are not the cheapest though i paid 270 for mine
