Im not sure if this is normal but it dosent seem like it. Everytime Im sitting still and turn my wheel hard to the left or right my rpms drop and feels almost as if my car wants to die.The rpms just surge down and back up again.I also notice my steering has became very loose(easy to turn the wheel) the last few weeks in addition to this.Could this be my PS going out?Any help thanks.

When you turn the wheel you are making a LOAD on the motor. The PS pump and pulley are on the belt system, so when you turn the wheel the PS is then trying to pump the fluid, its make the rpms drop alot more because you are not moving and the fact that the ground makes alot of friction and thus make the pump work harder and causes the rpm drop.

I dont do it alot.I just did it a few times to check how my steering responded and see if I heard a whine among other things. But I get it, it hurts my tires.

Or dont dry steer

You learn not to fast when you have manual steering.

You also learn the strain you put on everything. Most people don't realize because they have a pump doing the work for them... grinding the tires into the ground, tearing the crap out of their front end slowly causing excess wear in things for no reason.

All well.

yea i definitely wouldn't worry about yours. at least yours doesn't grumble/grind at red lights and other stops without even turning the wheel. my PS pump sucks :/

My power steering leaks like a mofo so yeah im constantly adding fluid haha. Gotta pull the motor to fix it because its the rack n pinion. Don't feel like dropping the craddle.
