met up with will overkill for burgers and tuning ( a friends car ) and we talked about cams
just in case anyone didn't know any 2005-2006 LS4 can use a LS9 cam
P/N 12638427.

the 2005-06 ls4's use 3 bolt cam gear which the ls9 cam is.

the 2007+ is you use this part P/N 12586481 it will give you a 3 bolt came gear- or a ls3 cam is a single bolt cam



in the 07+ ls4's use the Ls3 tensioner which has been proven less durable then the older ls2 style that the 05-06 ls4 use's. its not recomended to swith with newer ls4s but is an inexpensive part if you wanted to

Nice little tid bit of info, Will knows his stuff.

As soon as I figure out the best way to yank this LS4 out of this car, I'll probably be doing a cam swap over the winter.

Pretty sure I'll be that guy and use a BTS3/4 cam in this thing. Uselessly huge cam for maximum noise.

I should revive that LS4 overall mod thread that I started a couple years back.

And Josh I'm not sure. I've got a buddy who's a huge LS guy with a built catfish...and he's done quite a few cam installs...plus he has a lift so I'm assuming we're just gonna lift the body off the powertrain.
