Solenoid question

I have a 99 GTP and it has 170k. I'm having a shifting issues with my tranny. Some times it won't shift till it gets into really high rpms. Then it also jerks at times. Ive done a fluid and filter change and also used some lucus oil. From what I've read I need some solinoids. But I'm not sure what ones I all need. I don't want to get into it and have wrong ones. Thanks for any help

At that many miles, you are better off doing a full rebuild. Likely all the clutch packs aswell as a solenoids are all worn out. I bet even the 4th gear shaft is almost worn thin and soon to strip and be gone at that many miles.

I mean you could do the most popular solenoids like the PCS, TCC and do the new 4th gear shaft while you had the side cover off but you have to do so much work to just get that far. And then what if all that doesnt fix it, you still have a trans with over 170,000 miles.

The first place to start would be to have it diagnosed with a scan tool and verify the pcm (computer) is telling the transmission to shift when it is OR if this is actually a mechanical transmission problem. Since these transmissions are electronically controlled they normally only do what the pcm commands them to do. Late and hard shifts can be as simple as a speed sensor or tps sensor causing problems and why it is important to have it properly diagnosed.

Well It throws codes when it has trouble shifting. It will go to like 4000 then shift . Then some times it clunks into gear. Then it won't do it for awhile. All the wired and pins look good on harness to module.

Get those codes and that will likely point you in the right direction. But still its got high miles and if a solenoid gets replaced and fixed, something else could go soon anyway.
