• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Alright here's the deal. Went and got new plugs and wires this morning. Didn't realize i had gotten TR6's until i got home. I meant to get TR55's. I thought what the hell, i'll give em try. I'm running the typical 3.4" setup. Gapped the plugs to .055" and got em all installed along with the wires. Started up fine and took it around the block. Started hesitating and felt like it wanted to die. Got it home and now it wont start. Pulled a plug out and had a black like soot on it and had gas on the plug. Went back to the store and got my normal Autolite 104's and gapped em to .055". That's what i was running before and had no problems.(that's what i get for being curious and wanting to try something new) Alright, got em in and fired right up. Drove it around the block with no problems.. actually it was running better than before i changed them. Brought it back home and let it sit for a couple of hours. Went to start it and nothing.. well it turns over and cranks then will stall out. Took a plug out and same thing as before. With all that being said, im starting to think its my MAF sensor? Could that be the cause? Mine is busted and cracked on the top.. been like that since i bought it. It's throwing a code but I don't know anyone with a scanner to see what it is.

Lol. a Broken maf will totally mess you up. Starting for a half second will result in gas on the plugs, too. Scan for codes and replace your broken maf.

It's got to be that MAF. I don't know what else would cause it. I'm going to replace it in the morning then go from there.

with the car off, un plug the maf, then start it up, if it runs better the maf is dead. being its cracked good chance thats the problem.

auto zone will scan your car for free and give you the code/codes your car has.

most auto parts store will scan the car as well. ( for free) not sure whos in your area.

I already broke down once today trying to goto Auto Zone lol

But I tried what you said by unplugging then starting it. It ran better without it plugged in. Left it running for a few mins then shut it off. Plugged it back in and started it back up.. ran for maybe about 10-15 sec. then just stalled out.

So I think its safe to say its the MAF.
Got one on order.. I'll pick it up in the morning and follow up with this thread if I run into anything else.
Thanks guys!

yeah thats your problem for sure.

you can drive it like that, ( unplugged that is) just dont drive it hard, just grand ma style driving till you get a new one.
