smallest pulley with the following mods?

so im planning on TOP SWAPPING my engine, so higher compression than the l67 and all that good stuff. if i go with a intake, sd headers, rockers, 180 t stat, 10.3mm wires, colder plugs, and a tune, what do you think the smallest pulley i can run is without knock? and what do you think would need to be done to get to a 3.4 cause im guessing that wouldnt quite get me there?
suggestions advice and wise words of wisdom are welcomed :th_winking:

3.8

maybe 3.6.

Thats about it.

You should at the least have the heads rebuilt.

To add more to the discussion i'm running a 3.4 on a top swap, ported blower, stock valvetrain, speed daddy's, full size wbs i/c.

No KR in sight on 16* of timing.

Have yet to have any sort of tuning done. Still on my 3.8 pulley non i/c tune.

3.8 is stock correct? so if those exact mods i listed are on both a l67 and a top swapped l36 then i can run a 3.8, maybe a 3.6 on the TS, what can i run on the l67? and what'd be the difference in power or should they equal about the same?

if i had a good paying job, some free time, and another car to drive around while i work on this one i would, but right now im 0/3 lol

3.6 would be it. Been there done that. Even with a 11.3 afr I was only able to have 17WOT timing before Id start knocking

If you can't afford to buy a handful of pulleys and sell what you don't need...

Edit: Oh hey, I just found you some money. $8 on the tstat and $120 on the plug wires. Done and done. $128 ought to get you three spare pulleys.

I'd say a 3.5 at best, but more than likely no smaller than a 3.6. I'd go with a stock pulley, load up the L32 timing tables and see where you're at.
Also being from CT as well if you need any help on the swap/tune just let me know.

It depends on what blower you are running also. Gen V with a 3.6 and those mods is pushing it. When I tried it on mine we could get the 3.6 to run but not perfectly without a little KR.

An intercooler is a high compression supercharged motors best friend.

There are more variables than just the physical parts on the motor.

im gonna give you the same answer i do to anyone who makes a thread asking how small of a pulley they can run with X mods...

scan... and youll find out... thats the only way to ever know

I'd run a stock pulley.

These people telling you to pulley down...its "meh" at best. The point of running high compression is the fact your not needing extra boost to maintain power levels as the low compression guys that NEED the boost levels to keep up.

I'd run the 3.8" and see how much timing you could get away with during the tune. Just keep in mind not all the smallest pulley cars are the fastest.

get the heads ported and polished, then you can see what pulley you can run on it after top swapping it. seriously, spend the money up front before you take it apart again because you will.
