I've been hearing this small whistling noise (kinda like a turbo sound)in my car and it only happens sometimes when i drive my car mostly in the morning when its cool. Its noticeable around 3500 rpm's to wot. i dont feel that it affects my car on power or acceleration. I was thinking that it might be the boost bypass valve because ive heard of people saying that they can stay open. but im not sure and was just throwing it out there to see if anyone has had the same problem.
 


My car was doing almost exactly as you described just recently. It was only making noise during boost. I don't recall that it went away after the car warmed up though. It turned out to be a leaky supercharger gasket. As you said, at first I didn't notice any problems, but it soon turned into a very noticeable misfire.

To check for this, get some carb cleaner and spray it all around the edges of the supercharger while idling. If there's a leak, you should be able to see where some of the fluid got sucked in. The idle may go up or down as well.

As a side note, if your BBV was stuck open, I would think you would notice a significant loss of power at WOT.
 
Thats really funny because i have an ses light that wont go away for misfire. Thats what i thought about the bbv too but i was just throwing it out there. but thank you
 
I was not referring my problem to the ses light it was to the leaky sound. the ses light just got thrown in there as this may be a solution to my problem thats all.

As I've read Bill say many times, fix the known issues before tackling new, mystery issues.
 


i have tried i have replaced every single ignition part on my car and it was still there i checked all of the injectors for any bad grounds or crimped wired i found nothing either way im going to need to replace the gasket so if it knocks out the ses light as well as the leak then so be it ill be happy
 
a misfire can happen because of air, fuel, and spark. find which one isnt working right and youll fix your misfire.

The whole reason for asking why you didn't mention it. Often I find that cars toss SES lights to suggest there is an issue. Hearing an issue may be a secondary symptom of said issue.

Fribo.. ax the mystery part on that. There aren't any mysteries, only learning experiences.
 
Problem posts without SES and DTC info? Looks like one for the Rant forum.

This is more than just a pet peeve for most of us here trying to help people. I'll leave it at that.
 
Ive asked about thew misfire code before and everyone said to do your plugs. my plugs aren't the issue or my wires or my coils or my ICM. also i have no funds to fix my car. so how can i get rid of a light that is a muliple cylinder misfire. i know the code its a p0300 obd2 code. where was everyone when i asked about my ses light
