SLP Exhaust

Need some advice, had a total SLP stainless steel exhaust system (Headers, Cat, Cat Back Exhaust with tips) installed on the vehicle a little over a year ago. Got pretty good power out of the system and sounds alright, but, I've got a bit of an exhaust leak. Took a drive down to SLP's shop a while back and had the tech's look at it and they say it is normal? I can't see how! There would have to be a large amount of unhappy customers out there if that was the case. You don't hear the leak idling or at highway speeds, but when excelerating it is loud and extremely annoying not to mention a bit embarressing. From what I was able to trouble shoot, the leak appears to coming from the flex pipe just past the collector before the cat? Was thinking about wrapping the flex pipe with header tape? Anyone experiencing this problem? Think header tape would help, or am I just looking at future problems?

is it a ticking? that is from the flexpipe. everyone with the flex that comes on the SLP headers has it. either wrap the flex with some header wrap or cut it out and replace it.

X2. If it is the tick, it is normal with most any SLP system...hell even the GTO's around here with SLP headers have ticking issues.

Yes it is a ticking sound. At first I actually thought it was a leak up at the manifold gasket, sounded like just one cylinder was leaking because of the tick. Is the tape the way to go? Will it stiffen up and have to keep replacing it? Will it break down the flex pipe? Being sort of new to the whole ideal of having a flexible point in an exhaust system. Isn't that flex there for a specific reason? By cutting it out and putting a straight pipe in, what problems am I look at down the road, if any? Thanks for the input.

i meant cut it out and replace it with a different flex pipe.
