Slip/bang trans tuning.

Hey guys, I have a 97 turbo gt with a 4t65e out of a 01 regal gs. I took a gamble on it as it came from the junk yard. It had a fair amount of clutch material in the pan but didn't look too bad. I don't know mileage due to the digital odometer. I put in a 300m input shaft, 2.93 7/8 chain set, hardened 4th, new pcs, tcc solenoid, and a transgo shift kit. It was good for about a week then I started to get a slip/bang when taking off from a stop above 1/3 throttle. It doesn't rev high, only a few hundred rpm then it grabs. If I take off easy it operates normally. If I shift it down to manual 1st it takes off normally.

After some research I'm leaning toward a worn input clutch apply piston. I have read of one person, Jdmgtp, who was able to adjust the force motor current table in tiny tuner to correct the problem. I'm not sure how long it lasted but I figure it is worth a try. He said he lowered the commanded voltage at 0 psi for all temps. My questions are has anyone else tried this with any success? If so, how much did you lower the voltage? I was thinking 10-15%. Also is the 0 row the only one I should alter?

Right now my trans tune is based off of a stock 01 regal gs bin with some minor changes to torque management, shift points, shift time, etc. I'm working with Dhp and tiny tuner.

lowering the voltage up to 50% would be ok for testing at least. You could zero the whole table out and see how much it helps and eliminate the PCS as a potential issue.

take it back to the junk yard and get another one. most give you warranty. drop the pan at the junk yard this time to check for clutch material.

I will try to lower the first few rows to see if it even helps. I had this trans sitting in my garage for the last year as a spare so no warranty on it. If it doesn't work I will get a different trans. I will let you guys know how it goes.

Alright I lowered the first four rows 20% on both fmc tables. The slipping is completely gone. Time will tell how long it lasts.
