Slams into gear when cold

Ok as of late on an initial startup my trans will slam into gear unless I give it a 10 min warm up. I just did a Tranny flush and that didn't eliminate the issue. So anyone have any ideas?

Well when you don't let it warm up, the engine is at a higher idle than normal. Probably like 1,200 RPM's. If you let it warm up first it's only at around 800 RPM's. That extra speed will give a larger effect when engaging. Look at your rpm's when cold when it bangs into gear, and when warm, replicate those RPM's and see if it does the same thing. If it does, then there is probably no issue. If it doesn't do it, there may be something more to it.

could be the motor mounts are shot. the high idle makes it slam maybe. pop the hood shift it out of park, and watch the engine. its shouldn't move a whole lot.

If it's the trans, that's likely the input piston seal issue. There's a decent description of it on Tripleedgeperformance.com
