Shift kit, is it already there?

Besides the obvious taking it apart and looking at part numbers, any real way to know if a shift kit has been installed by previous owners? Car has 123k miles on it and it feels like it never hunts for gears, always shifts smooth, and always chooses the gear quickly. With what I've read on possible trans issues, I'd like to put the shift kit in it, however not if it's already installed of course.
 


if you have a scan gauge you can log the actual shift times. I don't remember what the stock shift times are, but if it has been tuned then it will shift much faster, for example, mine shifts in 0.125 of a sec in power enrichment mode
