service vehicle/charging system failure

So this service vehicle and occasional charging system failure has been driving me crazy.I took to my dealer were I purchased car on the way down it began mis firing and shifting ruff.He pulled 6 codes u1017,c0240,u0140,u0100,u0073,u0001.When I got back home I decided to do a test I saw online for the alternator.I turned car on and turned everything on radio, wipers, high beams, hazards, acMy voltage dropped down to 11.20 and began the charging system failure alert.Than it it kicked into battery saver mode.I'm hoping that all this is being caused by a bad alternator. Is this possible??

It's hard to say. All those codes are related to loss of communication with the BCM, it could be that the PCM cannot read the voltage and is unable to adjust the alternator. It could also be that the alternators output is so low that the com is failing. Do you have an aftermarket stereo?

It's the stock stereo in the car.Well that was a fail alternator read fine with thr scan.Although it was still in car.Lol well have a feeling this is going to be a long drawn out process.I'm bringing it back to dealer in a few days so thy can start going through the motions of trying to pin point it.I'll keep you guy's posted. As always any advice is welcome.

Thanks j57ltr you have been helping a bunch with this.I have been posting everywhere

You may be able to take the alternator in and have it tested. Hopefully they have the means to test them since these cars have been out for 12 years now. I am pretty sure the charging system is the same across the board, but I haven't really looked at the GXP's

Grounds, always check em. Ive seen bad battery posts throw communication codes. Are cars on start will ramp voltage up to 14's and back down to 12.6 before it regulates it at .5 volts until it meets demand. Being in the 11's I would be looking at battery but not ruling out a bad alt to cause the bad batt.
