Series II alternator

Can I use the series III alternator from a 2006 Buick on a series II GP S/C? The amps of the Buick is 120 and the GP is 110 is there anything else that would effect anything?

jeremy,

I run a 2004 Grand Prix (3800 series 3) alternator on my 2004 Impala (3800 series 2). Works perfectly. I believe the key will be making sure that the connectors and mounting is the same. Other than that, I don't see why not.

If you want an easy swap, go get a 2000-2003 Bonneville SSEi alternator. 125amps and usually cheap from a JY.

As for running a newer buick alt on your gp, I believe the field etc is controlled differently by the pcm and that may be more of an issue to figure out than it's worth.

The Buick had a 2 pin connector so it would not have worked, ended up going with one from a 2001 Bonneville. Apparently its been dying slowly for awhile now, lights are bright again and passenger window goes up with ease. Thank you
