2 Questions
1. Service engine light came on today on my 97 prix se 3800series 2, does that light come on when its due for an oil change? Or do I need to look further?
There has been a wining noise on one of the pulley's for abot 5 min at warm up couldn't diagnose which one yet.

2. I know on my olds I can jump the a & b terminals on the code reader harness and turn key on to get codes are these the same?

Go to Auto Zone or Advance Auto and tell them you want your engine codes read. They'll do it for you.

Oh, sorry. No it does'nt.

But yeah, AutoZone or Advance Auto will put their scanner on the OBD II port and tell you everything thats making the SEL come on. Make sure to write down the codes they give you for you can post them here and we can help you with it if you need it.

Also I was cleaning the air filter yesterday maybe I put it back together wrong or knocked something loose. hopefully the sel is no big deal.

Probably was'nt caused by that unless you unplugged the IAT in the rubber tube or something.

I wouldn't worry about it too much though. Get it checked of-course, but if it was something really serious you would know it.

Yea maybe I loosened something when I put air filter compartment back together, I didn't even make it to autozone, I just wiggled the air filter componants and IAT, started car, after it warmed up, I reved the engine a couple times, and the SEL turned off, and never came back on.
