Security light flashing

Hey guys I had the issue with my 01 Pontiac Grand Prix GT with the security light flashing and the car wouldn't start or stay on for more than a few seconds. I left the key in ON for 10 mins and then tried starting the car. It starts and works fine now. The security light still remains flashing though the whole time when I'm driving. The car will still turn off and start perfectly fine though, but how do I get rid of this light?

I don't know much about cars that well, so please be detailed with solutions so I don't do it wrong. lol

When you do the relearn procedure, what is suppose to happen after 10 mins? I get that I leave it in ON for 10 mins, but is the light suppose to stop blinking or am I looking for something else to show me its time to turn it to off and do it again?
