Seafoam Query?

Just bought some Seafoam to run through my engine. Worked great on my wife's SUV so I thought I'd give it a try. Only problem is I can't locate the appropriate vacuum line to suck 1/3 of the can into. Can anyone tell me where to find a suitable vacuum line? (3.8L naturally aspirated V6)

There's only one line that's easy to get to, it's on the throttle body and connects to the EVAP purge solenoid and the FPR. You can give it a shot, but the way the intake is designed on the L36, I don't think most of the seafoam can make it into the cylinder, it'll end up pooled on the LIM. I tried doing mine once and didn't get anything like the smoke people talk about from doing it.

It would probably work better with an HV3 or something, but the runners it uses stock just don't let much liquid through.

I do it through the brake booster line. Just pull it off the brake booster with a gentle twisting motion. Never had any problems with it getting into the cylinders.

If you are needing to change your oil you can add it to the oil...and drive it a few "fun" miles...then come back home and change it. I tend to do it once a year right before I have a scheduled oil change.

I used the brake booster method... I just pulled the connector from the booster and used a funnel to pour a bit in the line while the car was running... It sputtered out a few times then I reconnected it and waited like 10 mins... Got a bit of white smoke but not alot. I also poured 1/3 of the can in the gas tank and another very small amount in the oil (as I just had a change with 80.00 synthetic) Seems to idle smoother now but needs a good driving to really run the seafoam through. Now onto tonights rear wheel hub assembly replacement and she is physically and mechanically flawless. Not bad for a car with 120,000km.

yeah brake booster is good choice, got a good amount of smoke and a horrid burning smell LOL, it was never done on the car before, the check engine light came on but after a few purge miles the check engine light reset and is all good

I hope you're not planning on leaving it in the oil for very long. You're supposed to change it after you add it to the oil within 500 miles.

Thats going to be expensive. Especially with synthetic.

Good eye.I guess they have to go through customs to get everything. Anything that is not made in canada anyways. And I know how much customs fees are.

i ran it through the brake booster line. has a strong vaccuum. but i didnt really notice a huge difference after it. im sure it helped though. god is that stuff fun to do just for the smoke factor alone!
