Scanner?

I just recently bought an 04 ss supercharged Monte Carlo, and I feel like buying a scanner is a must. (obviously) my question is what kind of scanner should I buy? Is there one that's better than another? Thanks

It depends on what you want it to do. Do you just want to be able to read trouble codes or do you want to be able to see live data and remotely control certain engine functions?

A Tech 2 scanner is about the best you can get but its gonna cost A LOT.

I was debating between ScanGauge and Aeroforce. I want it to read KR and engine codes, but it would also be convienent to see live data also.

Get the ScanGauge II from Linear Logic. It'll tell KR, boost, AFR, temperature, and a whole bunch of other things in real time. Stick it to your dash and happy motoring. A little Velcro works good.

Here's what it looks like. Ignore the dashboard. I hate cheap sensors. Good news is the ScanGauge reads temperature as reported by the PCM, not the dash gauge.

Regarding the Aeroforce PT scanner, what is the benefit of the dual gauges vs the single gauge? More results to view at one time?

I would go SD headers. If you have any KR with it being stock it should help with getting rid of it. Only run premium- 93 if available.

Get a scanner before dropping pulley sizes.

Scanner > headers

No point in modding if you have 0 way of monitoring how your engine is doing. When it goes BOOM then those headers are only going to help you so much. Get a scanner see were your at. Hell it can read and del any codes you may eventually have to deal with. Plus it's winter you really want to do a header install during the winter? Chances are they're going to sit in the box until spring/summer. Might as well get a great gauge you can use Immediately.

More for show then anything or to view more then 2 things at a time but you can always set them to cycle so it's goes through whatever you want it to constantly.

If you have an android phone, pick up a OBD2 blue tooth adapter ($10-$15) and down load the Torque app ($5).
If you plan on doing some major hp increases, then get a good scanner, if not then I would spend my money on helping her breath better CAI/HAI and headers.
