Scan Tool Readings...?

hey guys ..its important to me to do my mods right the first time .. also to learn the more tech side of things ..... i have been doing lots of research the last few months so i believe i should be familiar with most stuff.....

got a stock GTP s/c Comp G.... i have my snap on scan tool and my aeroforce scan gauge........looking for information on the the most important scan readings... their stock values....possibly getting some actual live reading to report back to here for you guys to inspect. i m really interested in knowing where all my parameters are before i start my mods and tune... (street legal mild tune persay , not looking to get into cam and rocker kind of stuff.. i want to hold onto some of the stock reliability but grow some balls cause well... we all like to go fast!!

thanx bret

ohh i forgot to ask as well what driving conditions should i be putting my car under in order to achieve the reading im looking for ... example a pull from 0 - 60 or 50 - 90 half throttle 85 percent...100% ...

Knock retard...you don't want none of that business, but the more factory the car is...the less destructive it tends to be.

Really the main thing.

I also check LTFT's...if they're pegged at 16.4 then you've got a vacuum leak.

Just take it out and do a full bore run, get it into 3rd gear, because the top of second gear is where knock occurs most of the time; or whenever there is a good amount of load on the motor...like 3rd or 4th gear too.

We monitor boost, intake air temp, transmission temperature, current gear, ignition advance, mass air flow frequency, knock retard, etc. We use this information to tune the car with a third party tuner.

We monitor knock retard with the gauge’s annunciator function. If it exceeds 3 degrees the super-bright LEDs will light.

These are some things aeroforce pointed out!

If your on a stock tune and you have no engine light on, all your parameters are in line with specs then...only thing to.scan is for kr as already.mentioned. when you tune you start looking at other things. If your fuel trims were outta spec you would throw a code as well but its nice to see where they are.

lol thanks .. i might have been overthinking the scanning process but since there are now some extra opinions i feel better about it thank you again ... but now i look at blues avatar i see he has posted 30 thousand times.. pretty sure hed be someone to listen to .. :th_peaceout:
