Rusted rocker panels, how much and where to buy!

So i got a 1999 GrandPrix GTP and i love it! Great car and the engine is working like a race horse! Now I'm not dropping money into modding the car out as it already had a respectable amount of Hp and Torque. But my rocker panels are rusted to almost nothing. I was wondering how much this would cost to fix (I am in Canada so prices are different) I'm getting her in the shop next week for a recall to be taken care of and was wondering if they would do it. is it better i do it myself or should i let my dealer do it?

Thanks guys!

A dealership won't replace the rocker panels.

That's a body shop deal. You basically have to cut the old rusty metal away and patch panel and weld new rockers in. A shop is going to cost alot of money, like more than the car is even worth. You can find various threads on here with the same topics and where people bought the panels (ebay is likely) and then fixed it themselves.

While you're at it, peel back the carpet in the trunk on the rear strut towers. If those are nothing but rot/rust, consider the car pretty much scrap metal unless you can cut all the rust out and patch new metal in.

Lots of dealers have body shops. The cars don't rust much here so I've never done that job. If you were asking how to do it I could help, but with pricing the labor I cannot. Any way you slice it, the value of the car is less than the job cost if done professionally. There's a couple options on parts and sources and those are easily found with a little searching. Rust is a good thing to check for before buying a car.
