I know my coupler is bad. What are some running condition symptom of a REALLY bad coupler? Working out some bugs and wanna b able to rule it out. Thanks :)
 


You know your coupler is bad. The best possible thing you could do would be to replace it see what problems still exist.
 
I was about to post a question about mine and saw this thread. I have no idea what is wrong with mine. I sold it 3 years ago and it sat for the last 2 years. I bought it back and have been restoring it. Runs strong but there is a noise that matches the RPMs. It fluctuates evenly with RPMs does not go away when RPMs go up. It sounds similar to when a bearing in a pulley goes bad. Kind of a steady grind/whine noise. It isn't a rattle. Hard to tell but seems like it is somewhere in the snout. Car has 150k on it. Any ideas what the most likely cause could be?

Remove belt, take another drive. If sound is still there, you know it has nothing to do with the S/C belt system.

If not there, diag further.

Screw driver on the ear test can narrow things down and make sure no other pulleys are bad and fluids are full.
