running amp power wire question

Right now I'm working on mechanical projects on my gp and haven't had time to look at how I wanna run my power cable for my amp. I see its gonna be on the passenger side. And I see its gonna be kinda low and a little in towards the middle of the firewall because of the strut tower. So what did u guys do? Did u drill a hole? Where'd u put it? Lemme know. Thanks

There's a rubber plug you can run all sorts of stuff threw on the passengers side behind the carpet\kick plate near the middle torward the firewall you'll see wires going to it. You gotta pull the plug out but its water tight until you poke a hole threw it to run things.

Here's what the Rhino is talking about.

ah ok. ive seen that before. awesome thanks guys. those pics are awesome and very helpful. my power wire is the next step up tho and so its a little thicker. 4 guage i believe? but it should still work right?

should I just poke a hole through the rubber seal thing using a drill bit or a screw driver? And when you poke the whole through it, it will no longer be water tight. Could that cause any major problems if its not water tight?

I literally took the big plug, pulled it out, and cut it off of the cable/wires going in. Never had a single problem with water. (comming from someone who lives in FL, who constantly has over 6" of standing water in their driveway/roads)

You can use a screwdriver, then bore it out with a drill bit, just be careful.

And it looks like 4ga wire in that pic, but it might be 5....
I ran 4ga through that hole, powering a 2000watt amp, to a 15, and the 4ga was plenty.

Hey I just ran my 1/0 threw that square grommet today, I removed the plug then poked my wire threw then put the plug back in as best as I could, I haven't driven the car yet & I want to know how any of you guys re-sealed the hole better. Should I put silicone threw there cause I don't want rain or water coming into my car.

I attached my wire to a metal coat hanger and taped the wire to that and pushed it through next to the existing wire.

Well I'm going hmto have to say my wire im useing is the same size as the preexisting wires its 0 gauge so I had to go on the side of the boot bot through but I worry that water may come inside so I'm asking how to better seal the hole without taking it out.

It poked it thru and it was reallly tight and hard. (That's what she said) so I wasn't worried about water and 1 year later I'm still good. If u wanna silicone around it it won't hurt. It'll just be a pain in the butt to get the wire out if u ever want to.
