RPM'S Flutter between 1700-2400 under load in 3rd-4th gear.

Can any one help?

I have a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix base 3.8L with 120,000km. I started having this fluttering issue as if the engine was starving for fuel or mis-firing at 1700-2400RPM'S when traveling up a incline between 3rd-4th gear (engine is under load). If you press the accelerator far enough the engine performs as it should and accelerates smoothly at 3000RPM'S +. Its very specifc to driving slow on an incline at the specified RPM's. The transmission fluid and filter have been replaced twice so far (I am particular about maintenance). I thought it was the spark plugs and wires so I changed them with stock OEM delco plugs and wires, the symptoms still persist. The engine light has not come on to trigger any DTC's. Has anyone else experienced this symptom before?

Thanks everyone for their input in advance!

u try cleaning the maf and also cleaning the throttle body they had a good problem with the tb getting dirty and then they would run funny...sometimes when you start it does it die and you have to restart it and hit the gas?

Ok thank you! I will start with that. I have noticed (even after replacing the plugs and wires) that if I use the remote start it wont start right the first try intermittently. Other than that no I dont find it to stall out much. I will let you know how I make out.

I tried what you recommended and unfortunately it didnt work. I decided to bring my car to the GM dealer which I was not overly looking forward too as usually its a run-around with GM dealers. To my pleasant surprise the service advisor was awesome, she scheduled me in and I brought my car in the next day. Long story short, the problem was the transmission solenoid. They replaced the solenoid and cleaned the valve body. The transmission is working perfectly. Finch GM in London, ON did a great job.

high load, low rpms, converter locked.

let completely off the gas pedal to unlock the converter. ease back into the throttle. it will never happen again.

Sorry to re-new this old thread. My car is doing the same thing jdebus97 described above. Same yr/make/model. Is it likely a transmission solenoid?
Bio248 referenced a converter lock, what the heck is that and could it be the issue?
I've cleaned the TB & MAF about 1,500 miles ago and it felt like it was better for awhile, but it's still doing it now.
