Years ago I got a vonage line so i figured i would get one with a wifi router in it. Vonage Telephone Adapter/Wireless Router - VWR-VR by D-Link
Well the range on it was to lacking for my needs.

So i went and bought a linksys with pre n and got a new card for my puter.

Night and day differnce even with my labtop with G card. Well here is what i am trying to do. I have my linksys router next to my cable modem in the center of my house. and i have a cat5e running across the floor to my office where I have my laser printer plugged in. To keep me from having another cable running across the floor "till i can get in the crawlspace and run a line" is plug my dlinkrouter into the linksys router and then off the dlink hook up my laser printer. Dlink is what i plug my phones into. Its next to the laster printer and fax. Can i configure it to work this way. I have turned off dhcp, and the wifi part on it. I have also changed it to be on the same subnet as the linksys. 192.168.1.200 in this case. Any ideas? Or will this just not work. I just tyring to keep from tripping on cables.
 


iam assuming that there is only the one computer ( your laptop) or is there a another computer in your office???
 
Its a small home office. i have 3 computers and 2 other printers but they are all on wifi. I want to keep the 1st router in the middle of the house so i can roam on the laptop. And i was wanting to use the 2nd to plug all my stuff into.
 
So you are trying to make the D-link connect wirelessly to the Linksys so you can plug the printer into the d-link and have it connected to everything else?
 
No, its connected by cat5. would be nice if i could do it wireless then i would not have a cable going thru my house.
 


I am so confused.

What I was going to say it, the only way it will work, is if you use a wireless NIC in the desktop and setup internet connection sharing. Basically, you'll have 2 networks but it won't matter because they'll talk to each other and all use the single internet connection.
