Rough idle, sometimes stalls

Have a 2000 GTP the recently started idling rough and bucking some under light acceleration. Doesnt do this all the time but does it more when its warmed up. Just changed the fuel pump and filter and no change. However when I remove the maf plug while the engine is idling it smooths out. Can anyone lead me in the right direction to remedy this issue. Thanks alot.

You need a new maf or try cleaning yours. when you unplugg it and it runs better that means you have a MAF issue.

im having the same problem im still trying to find away to fix it. let me know if u get somewhere with it

how high does it idle, my motor idled a bit high and ran rough, 100k on the clock and i replaced the maf cause it would run better but at about 1000rpm. turned out the lim gasket went bad and allowed a intake leak into the internals of the engine, replaced the gaskets and now i idle at like 650 and it starts with ease. kinda a strange intake leak that i rarely see, the oil/water/propane tricks wont work when this happens.

Idle is about 900 rpm. When it starts acting up it drops to 2 or 300 and the tries to recover and it goes to around 1200 then repeats then out of know where it clears up. Upper and lower intake gaskets have been replaced around 20000 miles ago. My car has 136000 on it. When the roughness clears it runs and idles great, roughness usually starts happening after it has warmed up and while I am driving then carries over to the idle when I am at a stop light.

My car is idling at around 1000-1300. I think illl deffinetly check for an intake leak. Ive checked for everything else.

Hi Guys,

Did anyone find a solution to their rough idle? I am experiencing the exact same symptoms on my 2001 GTP and would love some suggestions!

I spun a main bearing and got the engine reman'd about 10,000 Miles ago. Plus I don't notice any coolant loss, so I'm not convinced it's a leak in the LIM...

For me it was the MAF. Unplug it while the car is running and see if you have no change

Thanks! I'll give that a try next. Basically, it'll start fine cold, but after idling for a few minutes, it'll just die and won't start up again. I might check the IAC valve too.

Mine does the same thing not maf did tune up not plugs wires or pcv valve also replaced map sensor and not a coolant issue. I have no clue let me know if you figure this out. I've seen this issue posted a million time all over the forum and no definate answers. I have a p0170 code which is a fuel trim bank one code but no one seems to know exactly what is causing the code. Its not 02 sensors either
