Ok, a while back i changed my lower and upper intake gasket (imagine that!) and was pushed in a hurry and got my rods mixed up, the question is, what is the correct placement of the rods in the 3.1? its a '00(know it doesnt make a diff though)

rods? how did you ge to the rods when you were doing intake gaskets? do you mean PUSHRODS? if so they should be all the same length.

dont know the technical name, loosen the rocker arms and pull to replace the lower gaskets. and no they were not the same length. 6 on each side

No, on a 3.1 they are different lengths.

I can see this post is over a month old, but im not sure if you got it fixed
I recently bought a 96 pontiac grand prix, 3.1 SE edition, and found out the head gaskets are broke, and much other **** was wrong. The guy was a complete idiot and didnt know how to take care of a car..

Ive got a 2005 GTO LS1 Supercharged, on 30LB.. hitting over 700 REHP.

But, RODS Go : EXCHAUST:Long Intake Short, Go to autozone and buy a Haynes Repair book on this car, its about $20, but worth it..It helped us alot, wen getting further down in to the car.
