• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Rocker/Springs question.

Wow, I was making that WAYYYY harder than it needed to be. Thanks for sticking with me there. So what are the advantages/disadvantages of the two setups?

Two setups being L36 PCM with no BBV and L36 MAP
The other being L67 PCM with L67 MAP and BBV

The main difference between the two setups is the ability of the computer to read boost. Is this useful? Not extremely, IMO, since all of the tables that use MAP generally use identical values in the boosted range. It would be nice to log it when scanning, though, and you CAN have it bleed off boost if you really want it to.

If you're starting fresh, I would say use an L67 computer, but if you've got something like an HP Tuners where it's gonna end up costing you atleast $100 to switch, it's not really worth it.

So you say use the L67 computer with BBV and an L67 MAP? It seems to make sense that I would WANT the computer to bleed off boost if it felt the necessity, to me it just seems like it would protect the engine better right?

One thing to note, you don't HAVE to run the BBV solenoid with the L67 computer, but atleast you have the option. There are times when the computer might want to bleed off boost and you don't want it to, like on a hard launch at the track, or when you get over 116 MPH, etc, which is why some people remove the solenoid anyway. Superchargers have run for years with just a vac operated BBV, no computer interference. As Bio said, though, you need to know that when tuning.

In my honest opinion, I wouldn't do it. Way too many variables. At least find someone local who can tune you.

So in the event I did this whole swap. Just popped in a regular non tuned L67 computer. Would it be safe to drive to a shop that could properly tune it?

Just don't push it. Be gentle on it until it was tuned and you'd be okay.

Seems like you're catching on to the rest.

oh damn lol well thats where the shop is, i dunno how crazy you are about getting this car tuned. any local F body performance shops near you? someone with HP tuners?

None of the above. I have a feeling I may end up just doing the SS M90 swap and using all the GTP pulleys so I can run the GTP pulley setup. I don't care for the idea of using ZZP's PCM however.......:th_nervous:

ZZP pcms suck, if you want you can do the m90 kit and drive the 7hours for the tune, it will be worth it, but ill most likely get you a deal on it so youre not paying a lot of money. if you were closer id help you with teh car, i know that swao like the back of my hand ive done it so many times
