right side cv axle question

doin LCAs on my '08. havin just a wonderful time. right side cv axle came apart at the boot. can i slide it back together or should i get a new axle?
 


cancel that request. found a video and got it back together.
however another question: what should i look for for a replacement clamp on the boot? will a hose clamp work?
 
Parts stores sell the correct style and width of metal CV boot clamps, and the tool to install them.

A hose clamp is a no. They're too wide, don't stay tight, may throw off balance and could interfere with something else down there.

Worst case use a zip tie until you can get the proper metal one back on it.
