reuseable gaskets?

ok... im about to pull my UIM off... Ive read that the uim gasket is reuseable, which is a good thing as none of the aauto parts stores seem to have it. is this true? will the L36 gasket fit? how about the throttle body gasket? Any thing else I need to have handy when I tear into it... probably going to swap in a lower temp thermostat while im in...
 


Well, what engine do you have? You posted this in the L36/L26 section, and then asked if an L36 gasket would work, so I assume you have an L26?

And how many miles are on it? I was not aware that any of the new engines had reusable intake gaskets. But I could be wrong. But I would still be inclined to put new gaskets on it if you have over 5000 miles on them. I cringed at reusing my LIM gaskets that I had used for 3000 miles, but so far so good.

So you can try, but just realize it is a gamble.
 
It's a slightly expensive gasket, but can be reused if no defects show.

I would still buy a new one, simply for the fact of peace of mind.
