• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Retrofits installed, having issues, please help!

I got my retrofits from Classy a couple days ago, installed them yesterday. Went with 5000k, xb35 bulbs. I have the 9007 relay harness connected to the passenger side factory headlight connection.

When I turned them on the first couple times, only the passenger side fired up. Then I flicked the lights on and off a few times and they both turn on since. When I turn on my brights, the projectors turn off. When my low beams are on, I believe the passenger side is on low beams and the drivers side is on high beams. When I turn my lights off, the passenger side turns off and at the same time, the driver side goes to low beam for a second and then off.

Can someone please help me with this. What's going on with my setup?

Thanks everyone for your input and help, I need it.....

Where did you get the harness from? If it is from The Retrofit Source their 9007 will not work since our cars have a ground switch system circuit. If you did get it from TRS contact them and they will get you set up with the correct harness that is built for our cars. My retrofit had the same issue when I started out.

You might have to switch the pins in the harness. I know if you don't swap them then you'll have problems but i'm not sure what the exact problems are. The instructions are on this forum somewhere. I'd try the retrofit thread in the how-to section. Also for the not turning on at the same time what i usually do it just let the car run for 30 seconds then trun them on. It's like that gives them enough charge or something. I'm thinking about getting a bigger alternator and hoping that helps.

Thanks for the responses. Yes, all equipment is from TheRetrofitSource. And them turning on together was only an issue on my first 2 start up attempts, and hasn't repeated since.

Classy had me start by unplugging the high beam connector going from the Motocontrol 9007 relay harness to the projector. In doing this, I discovered 1 of the pins(and this was all my fault from me installing these) came out of the male end of the connector coming from the projector. Fixed that, but still unplugged both high beams.

Turned the lights on and bam, both sides running low beams nicely... No high beams. I reconnected both high beams connectors, turned on the lights, but then with the low beam headlights on, both projectors were in high beam mode. Turn on the brights and then both projectors instantly shut off together.

Classy got on the phone with TRS and found out about how switching around the 3 wires in the 9007 connector possibly being a sollution.

Today, I'm going to do this and post the results.

On a side note... Even though NONE of Classy's work was the problem here, he still stepped up and surpassed his already great reputation. I contacted him about this yesterday morning and he immediately replied and helped me troubleshoot this issue caused on TRS's end. And not thru email, but on the phone. He gave me instructions, answers, and had TRS on the phone faster than I could troubleshoot from my end. He went beyond "seller responsibility". Anyone going the retrofit route would be crazy not to pay Classy for his craftsmanship and customer service. This site needs to come up with an award for him!

Output is incredible, turned a lot of heads last night in Chicago. With the clear lenses, the cutoff line is very rich in its blueish purple color, and very crisp. I'll get some night time pics tonight and post them.

The Motocontrol 9007 relay harness is also a 9007, 9004 Relay, just with pins on the 9007 connector switched around. The 3 wires are blue(high beams), brown(low beams), and white(ground). I switched the blue and brown wires and problem fixed.

Everything's working perfectly. I'm gonna try and get some night time pics tonight. Thanks for your responses and thanks to Classy.

Good glad you got it working! And the whole switching the pin thing was what I was talking about in my post but couldn't remember what exactly you had to do.

Another satisfied 'Classy Pontiac' customer. I bought some retros from him a couple months ago and love them. I do have random issues with one side or the other not always coming on. Nothing to do with Classy's work. A pleasure to deal with.
