Results with stalls?

I never see any ETs of a high stalled GTP, wanting to know if anyone has had any luck with it. Im swapping my L36 for an L67, coupled with the supporting mods for a 3.4 setup, a 3500 stall, and 10" wide tires. Id like to get an idea of what to expect.

Seems you are putting in an awfully high stall for those mods or planning ahead for one heck of a monster engine build.

^^Pretty much, that and I hope you've got a ton of money sank into a transmission, or your going to be grenading that all the time.

that is a big stall..id hate driving it..

Ive got a ridiculously strong tranny from ZZP. 3.69 gears and the stall. I want to say it has the 1" chain but id have to dig the receipt out. It really isnt that bad as far as daily commuting goes. It seems that this setup is what made my first GP what it was. So now I want to know what to expect with almost twice the power.

I'd hope you have the bulletproof input shafts as well, because Streetwolf did the same thing as you...and couldn't keep input shafts in it...come to think of it, his were the upgraded ones too.

I've got a gt converter in my compg right now and it feels a little high. Maybe if I got cammed it would be good but I think when I get my trans built I'm going back closer to stock stall

Well if you trust zzp's estimation of stall speed, they say their 3250 is a small improvement over stock gt stall. It feels like 2500-2700 stall or so

My stall is 3500, when i hook good, the rpms shoot to 3500 and stay there. thats with no tire spin. I dont understand why everyone says its a pain to drive. With a sane foot, it drives almost comparably to stock converters.

I recently was reading up on converter stalls. It seems that the stall is very much based on teh converter and not necessarily it's stall rating. Therefore you may see quite a difference in actual stall across different converters of the same stall speed.

My converters have for the most part felt very good street driving and I've been using 3000's in the Bonneville. But overall it's built to piss and the higher stall only helps in keeping rpm up. These days I could probably stall it much lower and still have more than enough power for anything I wanted.

Use a stock L36 converter if you want.

Personally with a 3.4 setup I wouldnt trade my stock HD converter for anything... I had my stock HD converter putting down almost 450whp on my fiero for awhile without issues, thing was a beast.

Stall speed on converters is not rpm based only. The speed alters with power input...

A 400whp engine will stall at a slower speed than a 250whp engine with the same converters.
