Replacing snout bolts.

Blew out my elbow yesterday. Since I have the bracket off I figure I'll do the coupler and oil too.

Looks like the Gen 3 guys get nice 13mm bolts holding the snout on, while my 05 has T40 Torx bolts holding the snout to the housing.

I have the service record showing the coupler was replaced about 50k ago, and it looks like they WAY over torqued the snout bolts, in addition to using some kind of thread locker.

The result is 3 broken T40 bits and only one fully stripped head, but almost all are chewed up. So is there any thing stopping me from replacing them all with nice stainless hex heads?

Nope.. I replaced mine when my coupler went out.. After having to fight/drill/strip and eventually getting those damn torx bolts out the first time I went and took one to the local hardware store and matched them up and went with a hex head style just in case I ever have to do that again.

Fortunately I was able to drill and ez-out the one I stripped. The size is M8x1.25x45mm. Menards only had 4 in stock, Lowes only had 30mm or 50mm so I went with 50mm and a washer. Worked perfect.
