Replacing CV Axle

I found out a short while after I bought my car that the CV Boot was ripped and that it should be replaced. I haven't had time to do so, but now I want to make it more of a priority. I talked to my Uncle who is a Tech and said that if the boot has been ripped that long it is most likely that I need to replace the whole CV Axle. This was about 4 months ago he told me this. I had at the time exerienced a little pop close to turning the steering wheel close to max from the right side, but that has stopped. The only thing that happens now is the Right CV Axle makes a pop noise when going from Park to Reverse, and Reverse to Neutral. It also makes a slight noise when dropping below oor going above about 30mph. I wanted to know you guys opinion on if it needs changed? If so how difficult is it for me to do it? And should I get a Remanned part or a brand new one?

If the boot is ripped and has been for any amount of time replace the axle. They can be a pain in the ass to remove if you aren't used to it but it is doable and I'm sure there's a write up in the how to section for it. I always go new on them as it doesn't cost much more. Most will recommend cardone or oe axles.
