Replacing crankshaft position sensor

So I recently replaced my crankshaft position sensor. I was told by the guy at the gm part store that it would need to go through the Position System Variation Learn Procedure. However, he said that I could just drive it over once I have the new sensor installed. Well that would be grand if my car would start now. The engine clicks like its wanting to start but it just wont turn over. Any advice?
Btw its a 2001
 


Check all your battery cable connections and make sure they're clean and tight. When it clicks but doesn't start, does all the power die as well?
 
Check and make sure the battery and starter have solid connections.

Also make sure the crank position sensor is properly connected, if not, the car will not start.
 
The car is cranking fine it just wont roll over. battery is almost at full charge. all connections look good.
 
Wait, so the engine turns just fine, but won't fire up? To me if it's cranking then that means the engine is spinning by means of the starter. "Rolling over" is the same as cranking in my book. Please clarify for us.

If the engine is spinning when you hit the key but just not starting, then it may be time to check for fuel and spark. I replaced the crank sensor on my 00 GT and it fired right up the first time I hit the key.
 


sorry rolling over has always meant to me when the engine rolls over and fires up. its spinning but isnt starting. putting the old sensor on first to see if its a problem with the new sensor(which is my hope). removed the sensor but ran out of time tonight.
 
i put the old cps back on car still wont start. i am so lost as to what to do from here. i used a spark testing light tonight it showed that its getting spark but still only cranks.
 
im pretty sure its getting fuel, ill try with the start fluid tomorrow. it was just suggested to me that i check the csp gap? is it possible to change the gap? if so how do i do this?
 


Series I motors had an adjustment. Our sensors have none and require none. You did hook the sensor back up, correct? Pretend..I've forgotten once. Serious DOH moment.
