Replacement Intervals?

Hello! I am newish to the forum and very new to car care, so I ask for some patience. I recently realized how little i have paid attention to my suspension, have never replaced struts before, would i gain any improvement in ride quality replacing my original struts with KYB's? note these are original 175,000 miles later.

Thank you for your time.

Have you replaced the lower control arms ever? If not, at that mileage then I would seriously consider getting the dorman arms that come with new ball joints, then replacing all the struts and strut mounts all around. Likely you will notice a huge improvement as those struts are long done. I put KYB Excel-G struts on my 00 GT and it was like night and day. Next step up would be KYB AGX.

I think there are quick-struts out there that KYB makes that would bolt right in if you don't feel like messing with removing the springs and whatnot. At that point it would be 5 bolts and the strut comes out, new goes in. Done. Then just get a 4-wheel alignment.

Swapped mine @ 110,ooomi. Needed them real bad, rear tires were bouncing like basket balls= UNSAFE. I used 4 Monroe Sensa-Trac's. Killer deal from adv auto. 20% off for ordering online, join rewards and get 20$ reward for 100$ spent. I space my purchases out so I just break the 100$. Oh yeah, i waited til there was a rebate from Monroe of 100$ when you buy 4, you don't have to buy 4 @ once, just all 4 within the 2 or 3 month offer period.

Not to mention that it cups the hell out of the rear tires. Mine's been doing that. Really need to get the new struts and Eibach's under it that are laying in the garage so I can finally replace those tires.

Well, my 2002 has 149k and the ride was horrible. In order of what made the biggest difference in ride quality for me:
1. Inner and outer tie rods (huge difference)
2. Struts - bolt in (cheap ones, time will tell if the improved ride continues)
3. Sway bar and links
4.lca
5. Rear stab links

Car feels as good as my 2015 fusion with 12k

Just my opinion

Please list the year of the car and also whether supercharged, comp g, GT... etc. I would say replace the struts, springs, and mounts. Use OE AC Delco from rock auto those are your best options. I too used KYB GR2 and did not like them.

I used Monroe police/Taxi quick Struts from the 2003 Impala Police on my 01 GP.................Great deal, lifetime warranty...car never rode/handled this good when brand new when I drove off the dealer lot. Had KYB Struts before these Monroe Police Struts and I hated them...way too soft!
