Replacement Bearing/Hub Assembly Front And Rear

I guess I'm going to tackle the job of replacing both front and rear Hub/Bearings when I do the Struts. I hear a slight low tone humming as I drive and am assuming that it may be the bearings. The previous owner wasn't really up on maintaining the car so I want to change them. My question is, does anyone have a specific "Brand" that they use that is well built and good quality? I see many different ones on Fleabay that range from $45 to as high as $85 dollars each. I just want to get a set that lasts. Thanks!

The hubs/bearings themselves may be undersized for the car. Therefore if you have one that is bad, I'd replace only that one.

I've recently started buying the Moog ones at ADvance. Using the $40 off $100 discount code, I typically get them 60-80 with a 3 year warranty.

Thanks Bill. I guess if it ever stops raining here I'll jack up the car and check each wheel to see if I can find the troublesome one. I like MOOG for all my front end parts so I guess I'll go with them for the bearings.

Also, What do you mean by "they may be undersized for the car"?

Well...I had a 97 Bonneville and those car and the GP's from the early/mid 90's hardly ever crapped out a bearing. Go into the new body styles with a slightly different bearing and poof..they die 5 minutes out of the box. To me it seemed like they may have under engineered them for the application.

you can jack up one wheel at a time, leave the lugs tight, and grab the tire at the top, and do a push pull test, softly, to feel for any movement. if so you found your bad hub.

its always best to replace in pairs when possible. if one went bad, the other is sure to follow soon.

side note: that was some down pour just a little while ago. my power surged 3 times.

i look at it like this, if one tie rod was bad, would you just change the one that was bad? or do both? then pay for 2 alignments when the other side goes bad in 3 months.

same with a lca, or a strut. if one went bad, the other cant be far behind.

if its in the budget to do both. if not just fixing the the bad one will work.

hell i just did one one hub myself, but its a budget thing for me right now. i would have done both if i had the funds to do so.

Well, I'm definitely going to do a pair and not just the bad one. It will be easier for me to keep a record of whats been replaced and what hasn't, for me at least. Thanks Bill and Scotty.
