Replaced ECT sensor, cooling fans don't come on now

Replaced my ECT yesterday. Drove around today and noticed the temp gauge was reading WAY up on the gauge. It wasn't in the red but it was at the last big mark before the red zone.

Stopped and checked under the hood and noticed my cooling fans weren't on. They are programmed to always stay on 2 mins after the car is turned off and they weren't on at all. So I started the car and the fans still didn't kick on. The A/C was on too which should have had the fans on anyways. Right?

Drove up the street to AutoZone and cleared the codes in the computer. The fans then came on and seemed to stay on for the drive home. They were on after I turned the car off too, but for the whole drive home the car was still reading WAY high on the gauge even with the A/C off.

What could be causing the super hot temps fans on or off?

Just was out looking around at things again. Started the car and checked to see if the cooling fans were on. They were OFF.

so I get in the car and turn the A/C off and go back and check the cooling fans. Now they were ON.

go turn the A/C back on, the fans stay on. Turn A/C off, fans stay on. Turn car off, fans stay on for a couple mins. Start car back up, fans come back on.

It's the weirdest thing. I don't get it.
